Amy wrote the following poem about Zip as an English project. It’s all true!

Good Morning Zip!!!
Whoosh!
Whomp!
Leaping, lapping
Whirling, twirling
Wisps of whitest white and
Deepest velvety, inky black
Round and round
Spinning like a kiddie top
Springing, sailing
Delicately landing like a
Ton of bricks
On my poor unsuspecting belly
And cobwebbed head.
Zoom!
Boom!
Good Morning Zip!!!

October 2006 News: Every day starts with a half hour of tennis balls in the back yard. We usually wake up with at least one dog and a dozen tennis balls in the waterbed. There is a picture of the “Z” dog with a green sheep in his mouth. When the deer get too close to the fence out back, Zip will gather all of his tennis balls and then crouch between the balls and the deer to protect his little green flock. He has finally figured out that they are not big brown dogs and they’re not going to play with him. Oooh, bummer! We’re just living life, entertaining each other (and some senior citizens now and then), and once in a while, eating some ice cream at McDonald’s. We do most of our year’s work in the summer so the boys get to travel and see lots of new people. Now life goes slower so we’re going to try an agility class this winter.

Zip's Bio

Zip is, simply put, an amazing dog. The fourth of Perky’s litter, he was diagnosed at three weeks old with a congenital herniated diaphragm. At five weeks old, it was literally “do-or-die” time, as every meal resulted in him being unable to breathe. Little “Rover” incredibly survived and rapidly recovered from a difficult and risky surgery, during which it was discovered that his stomach, intestines, and liver were all in his lung cavity. You can read more about Zip’s story in the Pupblog. Zip is doing great, and lives with the LaClair family and his half-brother Duff in Chester, NJ. They will be doing agility and trying herding with this most special boy.
